Vice President Jusuf Kalla attended the reception to mark the 85th anniversary of Japanese Emperor Akihito at Mulia Hotel. He also expressed appreciation for the good relations that have developed between the two countries for the past 60 years and hoped it would continue. Japanese ambasador Ishii thanked to the vice president for attending the celebration. This reception would also be the last for the emperor as he would soon abdicate and be replaced by prince naruhito.

Closely bilateral relationship between two countries are reflected by the growth of Japanese product in Indonesia, one of which is Harada Brand from Shizuoka, where the product has been produced since 100 years ago. The friendship and bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan have grown stronger in the past few years, which can be seen through their increasing bilateral trade relations, and will remain firm in its efforts to build mutual relations.
